Golden Gate Bridge July 2014

While in San Francisco, we visited the Golden Gate Bridge.  It took four years to build and opened to traffic May 28, 1937.  There are 600,000 rivets in each tower.  It was a windy, cold day but we decided to walk all the way across the bridge.  It was a beautiful view.
We saw several barges going under the Golden Gate Bridge. They were huge!

Tour De Cure Bike Ride June 2014

We participated in the Tour De Cure Bike Ride for Diabetes at the Texas Motor Speedway and surrounding area in June.  My brother Garrett was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was 15.  We would love for them to find a cure for diabetes.  Mom, Ruth and I rode 17 miles.  Garrett and Dad rode 35 miles.   Thank you to all the friends and family that sponsored us on our ride!

Redwood Forest July 2014

Here are some pictures from our day in the Redwood Forest.  These are coastal Redwoods and they get some of their water from the fog.  They can grow to be 300 ft tall. These trees were enormous,  beautiful, and green.

There were a lot of Elk in the park.

Memories of Sparky and Addy

I have some special memories of Sparky and Addy.

Sparky was one of my first dogs and I loved her.  She liked to play.  Sparky died of some kind of poisoning.
This is Addy. We got her when she was a puppy from the animal shelter.
Addy and Angel as they grew.

Angel and Addy playing

Angle is the only dog still living and she spends a lot of time with me. We are hoping to get a new puppy soon.

A day at Stars and Strides.

First that day I had my lesson on Jet along with Courtney and Lily.

My friend Courtney riding Lily.

I was washing Clay. He was really dirty!

Courtney and Brodie with P2.

I braided Clay's mane and tail.

I was helping with Brodie's lesson on P2.  Brodie is an awesome rider. I also helped with several other lessons that day. I love assisting all the riders with Mrs. Miller!

I rode Jet bareback.

This is a horse that they were considering buying at Stars and Strides and I got to ride him.

Weatherford Fire Station Tour

On Monday May 19, we visited the Weatherford Fire Station #1 for a tour with our 4H group.  The firemen talked about fire safety and showed us the fire trucks. I enjoyed organizing the tour for our group.
This is where they sleep.

The fireman was telling us about smoke detectors.  Did you know you should change your batteries in the smoke detector once a year?

One of the firemen dressed in his full fire suit to show what he would look like in a fire if he came into your house.
He wanted the kids to not be afraid of him.  We all gave him a high-five!
